Melanie McCabe returns to The X Factor tonight, for a third shot at making it to the live shows.
The 18-year-old singer made bootcamp in 2008 and judges' houses last year, so will it be third time lucky for Melanie this year?
"I was so excited last year getting to Miami [for judges' houses last year], I’m from a little town where it’s kind of like just unheard of you know? When I was told that I was going home, I was devastated," Melanie explains.
She continues: "I couldn’t even talk to anyone, I came home and my mum just cuddled me and she told me it was going to be ok and I still can’t watch that Judges Houses episode, it just brings back so many memories.
"My mum’s just been a complete rock in my life, she’s the only person who stood by me and said it’s ok, I know you’re going to make it you know?
"When you’ve got a knock back it really pushes you and it makes you stronger. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted anything so much in my whole life as I do now."
On stage and Melanie tells Tulisa: "I was so devastated when I didn’t get through, I cried the whole way home from Miami. I think in the past year I’ve just kind of said to myself no I’m going to come back this year, I’m going to do better."
After singing Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel, the judges were once again impressed.
"Melanie, your voice is even better, than what I remember from last year. That performance was outstanding, the raw talent that you have is just undeniable, you deserve to be on that stage and I’m so happy that you are there," Tulisa gushed.
Guest judge Mel B says: "Well I didn’t know what to expect, you’re this tiny little petite thing with this huge incredible voice, I was like woah where did that come from? You’re a little star in my eyes.
Louis adds: "Melanie you were so disappointed last year, I know you were. You’ve done it. I’m emotional because I know you’re from Dublin, what people don’t know is that we know each other and I know you have been through a really tough time and I didn’t know you were going to be this good today, I knew you were going to be good but you were incredible and I am so happy for you."
Off stage, Melanie reacts: "That reaction I got, when the audience stood up, that was what I came back for….it’s more important than it’s ever been in my life."
