The X Factor 2012: Audition Show 3 recap

Jake Quickenden (X Factor 2012)

The X Factor 2012 auditions continued on ITV1 tonight with another batch of wacky wannabes and talented hopefuls taking to the stage.

This week’s show saw the X Factor juggernaut roll into Manchester and Glasgow.

Gary Barlow, Tulisa and Louis Walsh were joined by Guest Judges Mel B (in Manchester) and Anastacia (in Glasgow).

First on stage was Nicola–Marie, a Amy Winehouse/Lady Gaga tribute act who split the panel with her performance of Tell it to my heart by Taylor Dayne.

Mel B raved: " I properly loved it, it was full on, yeah it is a little bit dated, so what, but you grabbed my attention."

But Gary wasn't impressed: "Guys, I don’t know what planet you two are on but I’m going to kick off the voting, I have to say I didn’t really enjoy the audition, I found it dated and ultimately I’d find you really annoying if you were in my category."

[tag]Jake Quickenden[/tag] managed to get a more unanimous response from the judges, with all four of the panel putting the hunky lifeguard through to bootcamp after her performance of Use Somebody by Kings Of Leon.

Gary said: " Jake I thought that was great, I love your voice, I love your image, I thought it was a great song choice for your audition today, you were fantastic well done."

Next to face the panel was [tag]Joseph Whelan[/tag], hoping to make a career for himself to provide for his young son.

Singing Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin Joseph was sent through to bootcamp.

Tulisa gushed: "Joseph oh my god. What a voice! What a tone you have. I think Gary’s gonna start getting jealous because you’re gonna be stealing all of the female attention."

Closing the show this evening was [tag]Melanie Masson[/tag], who performed for the panel at auditions in Glasgow.

The 44-year-old wowed the judges with her take on Cry Baby by Janis Joplin.

"Melanie that was insane, oh my god that voice, you were guiding us through the song. It was amazing, it really was," Gary said.

Louis added: "Melanie where did that voice come from and where has it been? You’re 44, this is what this show is all about, finding somebody as amazing as you and giving them a chance."
