X Factor hopeful Lucy Spraggan has revealed music was only a hobby for her until recently, with her true dream being to become a firefighter!
The 20-year-old had hoped to be battling blazing buildings rather than singing on stage for millions.
“Music was a hobby, really. I went to college in 2010 because I wanted to become a firefighter," she explained.
However Lucy went on: "But when I was working on a demolition site, I broke my leg after I collapsed and fell 40ft and got covered in 1.4 tonnes of slate.
“I was told I couldn’t be a firefighter any more so I thought I would play it safe and get a more normal job.”
Lucy wowed the judges with her original song Last Night on last Saturday night's show, with the judges gushing.
Tulisa told her: “You’ve got me completely and utterly sold. That song there is going straight on my iPod. Clever, rappy, slingy, intelligent, funny - I really love it.”
And Louis Walsh raved “That song could be a number one record. Very few people get the reaction you get. I’ve been doing this nine years, we’ve never had anybody like that.
Speaking to her local newspaper The Star, Lucy said the reaction has been overwhelming.
She said: “The reaction has been amazing, I just literally can’t believe it. I’ve got 50,000 followers on Twitter, 2.8million people have seen my audition on YouTube and my Facebook page has got 26,000 likes.”
