Simon Cowell will be appearing on The X Factor 2012 in the UK this year, it has been revealed.
The show's executive producer Richard Holloway teased in an interview today that The X Factor boss would be on the show "in some guise somewhere" during the series this autumn.
Asked exactly what Simon's on-screen involvement will be, the telly boss would only say: "Ooh, that would be giving it away, wouldn't it … That's all I'm prepared to say … It's not a hologram."
The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent producer also took the chance to defend the show's ratings, after the new series launched to the fewest viewers since 2006.
"The audience for our first show was over double that of the next nearest programme," he said. "And considering it was the hottest day of the year, they are very strong figures. This year's series is packed with amazing talent so viewers are in for a treat over the next three months."
But speaking to The Guardian, Holloway admitted that changes could be made, and his team were looking at make ITV1's reality shows "more personal".
"I've got some thoughts in terms of that in the future, especially with all the technology we have and YouTube and Google and Skype," he explained. "There are ways we should be exploring making these shows even more personal … Bringing the people at home into the show, there's a rich vein there."
The X Factor continues on Saturday nights on ITV1.
