X Factor 2012: Ella Henderson and her original song wow judges

Ella Henderson (X Factor 2012)

Ella Henderson is set to become the first star of The X Factor 2012 after wowing the panel with an original track at the auditions.

The 16-year-old from Lincolnshire explains how she's been writing music from 13, crediting her inspiration as her late grandad.

Speaking to the judges before her performance, Ella reveals her song for the judges was dedicated to her grandfather's passing.

The song's lyrics include: "You think you're missed, the love I felt for you has flown away. And all you see, what you've done to me, so all I can ask is why, why, why?

"Oh yeah, you did it on your own now you've got to go. Oh no, I won't let you get me down. You tried to hurt my feelings, you stopped me dreaming, but here I draw the line. I wish you luck in life, and goodbye."

After the performance all of the judges are left wowed.

"Whoever, or whatever you wrote that song about those words, I’m sure, hit a chord with everyone," says guest judge Mel B. "Your song writing is so clever. It made me go into my own little world, and go Oh my God – I felt like that at one point, and that’s hard to do as a song writer.

"And when you sang it, you just made me believe every single word, I was right there with you. What we just witnessed was incredible, absolutely incredible."

Gary raved: "That performance was absolutely out of this world, it really was. That was really something special, thank you very much for that."

And Tulisa added: "There’s so many good things I could sit here and say about you, I could go on and on - the list is endless, but the one thing is that you are the one person that I personally go ‘I really want to mentor, I really do’ I see something so special in you, there’s just a spark, you’re just a star."

It's then over to the judges to decide whether to say yes, and we'll be shocked if they turn her away after those comments!
