The Voice UK 2012 winner Leanne Mitchell beaten by Bo Bruce in the charts

Leanne with Sir TomThe Voice UK's first ever winner Leanne Mitchell has suffered an embarrassing start to her music career after runner-up Bo Bruce zoomed ahead of her in the iTunes charts.

On Saturday, a surprise result saw Mitchell - coached by Tom Jones - take the crown, ahead of Will.i.am's protégé Tyler James and Danny O'Donoghue's act Bo, who had been tipped to triumph by Tellymix readers.

At the time of writing, the 28-year-old's winner's single - a cover of Whitney Houston's 'Run To You' - has just managed to crack the Top 20 on the iTunes Singles Chart.

But it seems Bo has had the last laugh after her five-track EP 'Search The Night' - which she recorded and released on an indie label over a year before the show - came from nowhere to land at #7 on the iTunes Albums Chart.

There has been no such luck for Tyler, who is nowhere to be seen in either chart despite having released one album and three singles with Universal Island Records in 2005.

A compilation album featuring the final eight contestants is due to be released in the coming weeks.
