The Voice UK's Ben Kelly: 'I'm disappointed but not upset'

Ben Kelly (The Voice UK)

Axed The Voice UK hopeful Ben Kelly has insisted that he's disappointed but not upset over his exit from the show last night.

Northern Irish singer Ben was a surprise exit, losing out to dark horse Ruth Ann St Luce after the pair performed Whitney Houston classic I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

Jessie J opted to take Ruth through to the live shows, a decision that both Will.i.am and Danny felt was wrong.

"I'm being honest, that was one of the biggest shocks and upsets of the night," The Script star Danny said.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast Ben however wasn't feeling too down heartened.

"I really wish I got to do another solo performance," he admitted. "It's definitely difficult to put on a good duet whilst trying to battle one another.

"To put on a good performance you'd imagine you should gel well together."

However Ben insisted: "I don't feel sad, maybe disappointed. Everyone has to go at some point, it's Jessie's choice."

The Voice UK battle rounds start this Saturday on BBC One.
