The Voice UK ratings shocked Danny O'Donoghue!

Danny O'Donoghue (The Voice UK)

The Voice UK coach Danny O'Donoghue has admitted that the huge ratings for The Voice UK shocked him.

The Script singer said that 10.8 million average of last weekend's final blind audition show was unheard of.

And he has a point, the series is already beating Britain's Got Talent and challenging The X Factor for its place as top TV show in the UK, and all in its first series.

“When the figures came in that first week I just went ‘oh my God’. And then we just saw the trajectory the second week, the third week. It is unheard of on TV," Danny said today.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, he explained: “Normally you have a big first week and then it goes down in the second and the third. Everyone was expecting it, the hangover from the first week after the honeymoon, but it never came.

“It still hasn’t come yet. We’re all really proud of the show. The BBC made a great choice on the format. It is such a fresh format and we have got leaders in their fields. Will is definitely a leader in his field.”

The Voice UK continues this Saturday and Sunday on BBC One.
