The Voice UK singer Jaz Ellington has vowed to the win the show for a friend who was shot dead in a gangland war.
27-year-old Jaz became the final artist in Team Will.i.am on last night's show, and completed the line up of this year'a fourty finalists.
Speaking after his try out, Jaz revealed how he shard his passion for music with late pal Fabian Ricketts, who died aged just 18.
“I’ve gone through pain and heartache before and I’ve written about it," he explained. “I see my music as a vocal diary. It makes me feel better. I lost one of my mates, Fabian Ricketts, a few years ago.
"He was murdered, shot in the chest. It was like, ‘Wow, I’m never going to see you again’ and the only way I could express that was in a song. I wrote a song called Perfect Picture which I sang at his funeral.
“It was really emotional. It was hard because we used to see each other all the time before he died. It really was a case of you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone. When he went that was a very painful moment for me. I wasn’t a witness but I found out the morning after.”
Jaz reduced Will and Jessie J to tears on last night's show, which saw him perform an encore of Ordinary People.
