Danny O'Donoghue: 'The Voice UK winner is in my team'

Danny O'Donoghue (The Voice UK)

Confident Voice UK coach Danny O'Donoghue has said he's sure he has the show's winner on his team.

The hunky Irish singer is looking hotter than ever on the front of Fabulous magazine this week, and also admits he's shocked to be on the show.

“I have absolutely no idea how I managed to talk my way into it,” says Danny on joining the series, which was watched by over 10 million viewers last weekend.

He goes on: “I’d interviewed for the position and been called back, but I heard that people like Mary J Blige were also in the running.

"I knew Will Young was the favourite... As far as I was aware there was a lot of hearsay and rumour and I didn’t know anything for sure. But I was so thrilled to get the job.”

The Script star tells the publication, free with Sunday's The Sun, that he hopes the show will also benefit the group's profile ahead of their new album release later this year.

He explains: “I never wanted to be famous for being famous. I wanted to be known for my music. But we’ve been looking for a project that would help get our personalities across for quite a while and this was the best way forward. Now’s the time to go balls to the wall.”

And in a swipe at his fellow coaches, Danny boasts: “Obviously I think I’ve got the winner.”

The Voice UK continues this Saturday night at 7PM on BBC One.
