Tyler James has said that he was inspired to audition for The Voice UK after the death of pal Amy Winehouse.
The 30-year-old musician joined Team Will.i.am on Saturday's audition show, and said he threw himself back into music after the sudden death of his close friend last summer.
Recalling his audition, Tyler said this week: "I performed Sittin On The Doc of The Bay, it’s one of my favourite songs and I’ve never been so nervous in my entire life.
“I’m shocked that I’m through."
Will was the only judge to turn around for Tyler, not that he was disappointed.
"He noticed something in my voice and I feel privileged that he did. I just hope that it’s going to build my confidence up and bring it back out of me," the London singer explained.
He went on: "I was signed 5 years ago and haven’t been out there doing my singing since, so this the beginning of me doing that again, I’ve thrown myself right in the deep end, but after what’s happened this past year, life's too short.”
