The Voice UK artist Tyler James has revealed he felt suicidal after the death of pal Amy Winehouse last year.
30-year-old singer Tyler appeared on last night's blind audition show, joining Team Will.i.am after his performance of Otis Reading classic Sittin On The Dock Of The Bay.
“When Amy became successful, things for our group of friends got really f***** up,” Tyler told the Daily Mirror today.
The Londoner became friends with Amy at the age of 13, and had gone on to both join the same stage school and were eventually both signed to the same record label.
But following her shocking death last year, Tyler told how his world suddenly "collapsed".
He said: “There was a moment when my world just collapsed and I was, like, I’m definitely going to do myself in today. After her body was found I was taken to a police station to help them.
"When I came out my mum was there waiting. I saw the look in her eyes and the first thing she said to me was, ‘I do not want to feel how Mitch (Amy’s dad) feels right now’.
“Mum knows I can self-destruct but when she said that I couldn’t give in... it would be a massive disservice to Amy.”
Tyler added that he still sees Amy every day, even in his dreams.
He said: “Amy’s with me every day. She’s come to me in my dreams. Amy is happy now she’s with her nan. If her being happy means I can’t see her, so be it.”
