The Voice UK is stepping up a gear, with a double Battle Round instalment on the weekend of April 21 and 22 later this month!
After the conclusion of the Blind Auditions - which still have two more episodes to air - the Voice UK’s Battle Rounds will get. The programme will air over two episodes, each featuring two of the coaches and their teams, spread over the weekend on Saturday and Sunday April 21st and 22nd.
As announced earlier today, joining superstar coaches Jessie J, Tom Jones, will.i.am and Danny O’Donoghue will be four Battle Advisors: Paloma Faith (Team Danny), Cerys Matthews (Team Tom), the Scissor Sisters’ Ana Matronic (Team Jessie) and Black Eyed Pea Dante Santiago (Team will).
Together with the coaches, they will be responsible for developing their artists, helping them improve their vocal ability and polishing their performances.
Paloma tweeted this afternoon: "hello!!!!I'm so excited to be able to help advising budding songwriters and singers. Xxx [sic]"
The Battle Rounds will see each of the four coaches pit two of their own acts against each other to sing a competitive duet in front of a studio audience. Immediately after the battle performance the coach must choose which artist will go through to the live shows and which to send home.
The five acts who remain in each team by the end of the process will go on to compete in the live shows.
“This is a pivotal moment in the series, the gateway to our live shows and a massive event," Voice co-host Reggie Yates says. "Forty Artists, twenty going home – it’s a really, really exciting point to get down to our top twenty.”
Holly Willoughby adds: "The Battle Rounds are make or break time for all the artists in the competition.
"They have to compete with their opponents singing the same song, before their coach decides which one to send home – in some cases it’s an almost impossible decision. The drama is going to be extremely high.”
Expect tears, drama and some brilliant performances!
The Voice continues this Saturday at 7pm on BBC One
