Britain’s Got Talent star Ryan O’Shaughnessy could still face the axe from the show over his record contract with Universal Music.
We revealed yesterday how Ryan O’Shaughnessy appeared on The Voice of Ireland earlier this year, making it all the way to the live shows.
And while he was eliminated, all of the acts who made the finals like Ryan still signed contracts.
“I entered BGT last year but soon afterwards my mum entered me in The Voice,” the Dubliner singer explained to the Sunday Mirror today. “I didn’t know she was going to do it, but we thought, ‘what harm can it do’. We had no idea I’d get so far.”
Ryan confessed to the paper that his future on the show was in doubt, admitting: “I’ve always wanted to be on BGT so it would be a real blow if I had to leave. It’s the better stage.”
Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday, Ryan revealed how bosses were trying to sort out the legal issues to allow him to appear on the next stages of the show in May.
"I never imagined I would get this far on either show. And now there’s no way around the contract. I’ll be careful what I sign in the future," he told the newspaper. “I’m trying to sort it out legally so they release me to compete on Britain’s Got Talent.
“It will be terrible for me if they don’t. I’m trying to be positive about it.”
Taking a swipe at The Voice, Ryan added: "Britain’s Got Talent is the show I want to do – not The Voice. Britain’s Got Talent has a bigger following so that would be better for my career.”
The teenager wowed the judges and crowds on last night's show with a performance of an original, unnamed, song for a mystery admirer.
And he said he's still yet to tell the girl about the track!
“I still haven’t told her the song is written for her, but she’ll know when she sees it. I hope she’ll be delighted," he added.
