Cheryl Cole denies she's set to join X Factor rival The Voice UK as a mentor

Former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has denied reports that she is set to join BBC's The Voice UK, insisting that she is instead to focus on her music career.

It was reported in the tabloids this week that Cheryl was to become a mentor on the new series, which launches on March 24.

However a spokesperson for the 28-year-old singer confirmed that "there is no truth" in the claims, which appeared in the Daily Star earlier in the week.

Cheryl is currently putting the finishing touches to her third studio album, revealing on Twitter today that one of her songs from her upcoming third would be called 'This Is War'.

While there's no plans for Cheryl to appear as a mentor on The Voice, her manager and Voice coach Will.i.am did confirm this week and she was "welcome" to perform on the live shows.

"It depends if she wants to do it,” Will said. “If that’s what she wants to do, we’ll do it.”

The Voice UK launches on BBC One on March 24.
