The Voice UK coaches could be axed after the first series if they fail to impress TV viewers, it’s been revealed.
Despite the BBC agreeing to a minimum of two series of the singing contest, the show's talent has only been signed for one year.
The Beeb has spent £1 million on securing Will.i.am, Jessie J, Sir Tom Jones and Danny O'Donoghue, with pay ranging from £500,000 for Will to £100,000 for Danny.
It's more money per TV hour than any other BBC entertainment show, more than five times the amount that Strictly Come Dancing's judges get paid.
But even they drew the line at the £1 million a series that Kylie Minogue demanded.
As well as the cost of the coaches themselves, production of the show will cost £500,000 per hour, and will cost the broadcaster £11 million a year just for the rights to air the show.
Let's hope it doesn't flop...
