Speaking at the launch of the show last month, 'Domino' hitmaker Jessie and her fellow coaches explained that reducing someone to tears was just a part of the process.
"I’m quite hardcore on them, so I’ve been told," Jessie said. "Ive been told I’m the one that literally put them through bootcamp."
"I've made people cry, but that's good, crying is good. You should embrace crying, it's letting them realise that this isn't a walk in the park. 25,000 auditioned for this show and they made the final 40, they gave to raise their game"
Voice pal Danny O'Donoghue added: "If you needed to bring someone to tears it’s for the right reasons, it’s because they needed to be brought down in order to be built back up again to get over a personal hurdle."
But showing that the competition was already well underway, Tom Jones quipped: "I didn’t do that because I picked all the right ones."
The Voice UK launches on BBC One on March 24.
