West End star Kerry Ellis was turned away from The Voice UK by the show's coaches when she auditioned for the series last month, it has been revealed.
The singer, who has also been on tour with Queen, failed to tempt a single one of the four stars to turn around when she performed for them in January.
And the decision not to put talented singer Kerrythrough shocked the live audience, despite less component singers managing to make it into the next round.
The judges told the 32-year-old that she had "already made it" with her career, despite pleading with the panel that she wanted to break out in the charts as opposed to being on stage.
Kerry, who has also performed on The Royal Variety Show and at the Queen's Golden Jubilee, went home without making it through to the show's battle rounds.
A source told the Daily Star: “There were genuine gasps that no-one picked her.”
The Voice is set to air on the BBC from March.
