Dermot O'Leary has denied reports suggesting that he was in talks with the BBC to leave The X Factor in order to front their new rival show The Voice. The reality talent contestant will launch in early 2012 on BBC One, hoping to pinch fans from the ITV1 ratings juggernaut.
Details about the show are sketchy, with many rumours as to who the four musical judges will be. However what is for sure is that - despite previous claims - Dermot hasn't been approached to host the show. Not yet, anyway!
Asked about the rumours, he laughed: "I'm glad they told me!
"I've not heard anything. I'm just happy doing what I'm doing. I'm really enjoying The X Factor this year. It was news to me when I read it, let's put it that way!"
A source added that BBC bosses were keen to make sure the new series wouldn't simply be an "X Factor clone". They said: "We don’t just want to hire people from the X Factor. This is one of the hottest tickets in town for a star right now."
The X Factor 2011 starts on August 20 on ITV1.
