BBC 'looking to commission' reality show The Voice in the UK

The Beeb have confirmed they are looking to commission reality show The Voice here in the UK. The new talent show format, which sees hopeful singers perform to the judges with their backs turned, has become a huge hit in both the states and the Netherlands, were it originated.

The show sees four judges who, on hearing an auditionee they like the sound of, turn their chairs around to see the performer and show their interest. Each of the auditionees gets to choose which of the judges 'teams' they wish to join, with the judges competing for the best singers on their team.

After the initial auditions come a round of 'battles', where the judges whittle down their teams to a Top 4 who then go on to compete against each other in the live shows, similar to The X Factor.

A spokesperson for the channel said: "The BBC is looking at The Voice for BBC1 on Saturday night but it has not yet been commissioned."

They added: "We are a long way off any decision being made."

We reported earlier this week how the BBC were after Robbie Williams and Adele for the show. Former X Factor judge Dannii Minogue has also been linked to a role on the new programme.
