Gavin Rossdale is hoping he'll be asked back to The Voice UK on ITV next year.

While the current series is still well underway, the Bush frontman has already declared his intention to stay put in the spinning red chairs.

Assuming of course he'll be asked.

"I think they’re waiting to see if I sing in tune," quipped Gavin ahead of a live performance in this weekend's knockout rounds.

He told The Sun newspaper: “I want to come back and do it. I’ve really, really enjoyed it. There’s been no time when I’ve regretted doing it.

“There’s something really special about taking what you have given your whole life too. Like for me, music, and then mentoring people who want to do it.”

ITV took charge of The Voice from the BBC this year in a three series contract.

However ratings for this first run have generally been below the last BBC One series with last Sunday's knockout rounds hitting a low of 3.8 million viewers.

Of course there's still a way to go yet for this year's series and tonight The Voice UK will once again go live for the latest knock outs, where viewers will decide who makes the finals.

Chatting to the Daily Star newspaper last week, newbie coach Gavin admitted his return in 2018 was ultimately in the hands of the producers.

“Your jobs are more secure than ours!" he told press.

The Voice UK veteran Sir Tom Jones - who was dropped from the final BBC One series - added to the newspaper: “It’s one year at a time.”

The pair are on this year's show alongside Jennifer Hudson and Will.i.am, the fifth different line up of coaches in six series; only the first two years had the same coaches when Sir Tom and Will were joined by Jessie J and Danny O'Donoghue.

The Voice UK airs live tonight at 8:30PM on ITV and continues Sunday night at 7:45PM.
