The pop opera artist impressed at the weekend with a unique cover of Toxic by Britney Spears.
The 23-year-old from Rotherham was the last singer of The Voice UK blind auditions this year.
Unknown to her, the product demonstrator had a place on Gavin Rossdale's team all lined up and ready for her as she completed his team to end the auditions.
However in a chat on ITV's Good Morning Britain today, Ruth confessed she had originally hoped to get a spin from Will.i.am.
"Initially I had will.i.am in mind because he had worked with classical performers before on the show," Ruth said. “I knew he had an open mind to that.”
However Ruth insisted there was "no disappointment" about joining Gavin's team instead.
"But I really respect Gavin as an artist and when he turned I was thrilled," she added, “There was no disappointment.”
Poor Gavin had a bit of a tough time at the weekend completing his team, spinning a total of five times to win just one act.
Throughout the series Gavin hit his buzzer the most, turning a total of 27 times but winning an act just 22% of the time. His fellow new coach Jennifer Hudson on the other hand won acts 66% of the time that she turned around.
The Voice UK is back this Saturday and Sunday night on ITV with the Battle Rounds.
