Will.i.am is confident that The Voice UK will triumph over Let It Shine on in the ratings on Saturday night.
This year The Voice UK is airing on ITV while the BBC has a new singing show fronted by Gary Barlow.
Gary's talent search will start on BBC One this Saturday night, taking over from The Voice's former slot on the channel.
The rival TV singing competitions will go head to head in the evening with Let It Shine starting at 7PM and The Voice UK at 8PM, overlapping one another by 25 minutes.
Will.i.am, who moved with The Voice from the BBC to ITV, took a cheeky swipe at his new rival this week: "He’s opening up for the headliners."
“He’s got to keep the people’s attention because they’re going to jump and come to us," Will said at this week's press launch. “Saturday night, the opening act, guess what, people leave that stage, they go to the main stage and go, ‘Oh s***, The Voice is on ITV’.”
Former X Factor judge Gary said he was not worried about the viewing figures..
"That's someone else's job to think of that stuff," he said. "Everyone's going to be talking about that, I'm aware of it, but I think The Voice will be the same as us - you put your head down and you concentrate on your TV show and making it as good as you can.
"It's the same when you're making records and you're looking left to see what Coldplay and One Direction are doing. You're not focusing on your own project. You've got to be head and shoulders in this… But I might be checking [the ratings] the day after!"
Let It Shine airs Saturday at 7PM on BBC One with The Voice UK starting at 8PM on ITV.
