ITV has AXED plans for The Voice UK to have an ITV2 spin-off show - at least for the time being.
When the broadcaster announced last year that it had poached the talent contest from the BBC, it said it had signed a "three-season commitment for an ITV2 spin-off".
However, the Radio Times reports that the companion show has been put on hold.
Bosses have apparently opted to focus on establishing the main show and childrens' version The Voice Kids as ITV formats before further expanding them.
A spokesperson said: "We are currently focused on The Voice UK and The Voice Kids, both of which will broadcast on ITV in 2017, and there are no plans at present for a spin-off show."
However, the TV magazine's source indicated that it could still be introduced in future years. ITV has a three-year deal for The Voice, and a two-year deal for The Voice Kids.
It is understood that financial concerns did not factor in to the decision.
So far, only Will.i.am has been confirmed as a coach for the ITV version. He will appear on both The Voice and The Voice Kids, while Emma Willis will also return to present both shows.
The Voice UK is expected to begin on ITV early next year.
