So far the channel have only confirmed Will.i.am for the new look panel, with Emma Willis returning as host.
According to The Sun newspaper, Sir Tom is in talks with ITV although has yet to 'totally commit' to the show.
Sir Tom was a coach on the singing contest from the first series up until 2015 when he was replaced by Boy George in a controversial move.
The Welsh crooner famously hit out at BBC chiefs over how his exit was handled, telling them to "go f*** themselves".
But it's not put him off returning to the spinning red chairs.
A source said: "Tom is keen to get back on the show — something he wouldn’t have been if it was still on the Beeb rather than ITV.
"It’s being seen as a masterstroke to get him back as he’s worked with them all — including Elvis — and commands respect."
However the tabloid reports that Sir Tom may decide it's too much too soon, following the tragic passing of his wife earlier this year.
This week saw the very first details of The Voice UK 2017 confirmed as Will.i.am announced his return for a sixth series.
Having been on the show since Day 1, he said: "I know The Voice switched to ITV, but I’m not going to BREXIT The Voice UK. I’m happy to make ITV my home now. I love the UK.”
However Boy George has ruled himself out of coming back for a second run, tweeting to his followers: "Not doing this season of 'The Voice on ITV but sending @iamwill my love.
"Watch this space for what I am up to! :)"
The Voice UK will begin filming later this year before airing in January time on ITV, hosted by Emma Willis.
