Boy George has QUIT The Voice UK and won't be back on ITV

The Voice - Episode 5

Boy George has announced that he will NOT be staying on The Voice UK when it moves to ITV.

The Culture Club hitmaker has taken to Twitter to reveal he is leaving the show after the one series, having joined for the last run on the BBC earlier this year.

George tweeted yesterday: "Not doing this season of 'The Voice on ITV but sending @iamwill my love.

"Watch this space for what I am up to! :)"

On Monday ITV announced Will.i.am as the very first confirmed coach for The Voice UK 2017 as the Black Eyed Peas star sticks with the show for what will be a seventh year.

He's also been revealed as one of three coaches on new spin-off show The Voice UK Kids, which will air next year too.

will.i.am said: “I’m delighted to be continuing The Voice UK on ITV and being a voice of direction and guidance for the usual suspects, and I’m thrilled to add The Voice Kids to the mix.

"I know The Voice switched to ITV, but I’m not going to BREXIT The Voice UK. I’m happy to make ITV my home now. I love the UK.

Meanwhile Emma Willis has been confirmed as the host of both the main show and the Kids version.

“Hosting The Voice Kids will be like being at my house on a Saturday night; lots of kids singing, with me trying to keep some kind of order," she said. "Thankfully, the musical genius that is will.i.am is there to bring some expertise to the table. It’s going to be pretty awesome.”

The Voice UK will air on ITV from the New Year.
