The Voice UK's Kevin Simm felt "screwed around with" after switching teams

The Voice - Episode 12

Kevin Simm has admitted he felt "screwed around with" on The Voice UK this year.

The Liberty X star is currently still in the competition and one of the favorites to win ahead of the semi-finals this Saturday night.

But it's not been plain sailing for Kevin who was shockingly ditched by Paloma Faith at the battle rounds.

He was however quickly pinched by Ricky Wilson through the 'steal twist', but it all left Kevin feeling a bit messed around with.

“It was surreal, a bit of a pantomime to be honest," he's quoted as telling the Metro newspaper. “You get really good comments and they build you up, and then you feel like you have been dumped.

"I should have been happy to get a second chance but I kind of felt like I’d been screwed around with.”

Kevin's battle round steal not only frustrated him but also the viewers, especially when there were claims of it being all being fixed.

Earlier this month, Paloma appeared to suggest that the result had been set up by her and Ricky beforehand.

"Losing Kevin was the hardest battle round decision. I wasn’t sleeping because of it. So Ricky and I agreed beforehand that he would take Kevin," Paloma was quoted as saying.

She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “The problem I had was both Kevin and Faith were amazing. [...] So I had to make sure they both stayed. It would have been 100 per cent ridiculous to get rid of someone that talented.”

However a spokesperson for the show has since clarified that Paloma had been "misquoted".

They explained that "the conversation between Ricky and Paloma before that battle record was her asking Ricky to steal Kevin if she didn’t choose him."

"He did not agree or disagree," they added.

Despite being left unimpressed by switching teams, Kevin said last week his new mentor was "awesome".

"He's brilliant, Ricky's awesome," Kevin told ITV's Lorraine. "He's exactly as you see on the television, as soon as you meet him it's like you've known him forever."

The Voice UK continues this Saturday night on BBC One.
