The Voice UK teams are filling up fast and Cody Frost remains the favourite to win.
Despite six newcomers to the coaches’ teams at the weekend, Cody, who appeared in the first blind auditions, is still the one to beat at 5/1.
Dubliner Lauren Lapsley-Browne joined Team Will on Saturday after impressing with her rendition of “Ain’t Nobody” and appears to be a contender for the title as she features in the top five of the betting at 16/1.
Also joining Team Will was Irene Alano-Rhodes, a former West End starlet who blasted out ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’, but is the bigger price of 25/1 to win. X Factor reject, Lydia Lucy continues to be the strongest of Will’s team as the 8/1 second favourite.
Paloma’s only new addition of the third blind auditions was support worker Deano, who went into the betting at 20/1, not far behind team leader Beth Morris (12/1).
Boy George added Newcastle native Charley Birkin, to his team with Ricky claiming two newbies, Tom Milner, an actor who starred in Waterloo Road, and East Londoner Efe Udugba, who all went into the betting as 33/1 shots.
Aoife Heffron from bookies BoyleSports commented “There are limited spots left on the coaches’ teams and it appears Cody Frost is going to be hard to knock off from the top spot of the betting.”
She added: “Dublin’s own Lauren Lapsley-Browne is not to be ruled out of the title race at 16/1, with Irish contestant’s proving to hold a good track record on the show as Lucy O’Byrne finished second last year.”
While it may seem rather early to speculate on a winner, both last year's X Factor champion Louisa Johnson and The Voice 2015 victor Stevie McCrorie began their respective series as favourites after appearing in the first audition episodes.
Can Cody do the same as them? Time will tell!
