The Voice 2015 winner Stevie McCrorie has charted at Number 35 in today's album charts.
It's a fairly disappointing result for what is a VERY good album that has had positive reviews. (Plug: you can buy it here on Amazon).
It's also rather unfortunate for Stevie after the success of his debut singe last year, which had been the first of any winner from The Voice UK to go to the Top 10. In fact, Stevie's cover of Lost Stars even out-performed latest X Factor winner Louisa Johnson.
Like all other previous winners of The Voice UK the problem once again seems to be a lack of promotion with no real mention of his record being out even on the show itself.
The Voice UK coach Will.i.am suggested previously that there was also a problem with the show airing on the BBC.
"When someone wins in France they’re supported on radio station," Will claimed in a chat with the Daily Mail newspaper. "You don’t have that here, there’s a block by the nature of what the BBC is."
While Stevie's record may have only scraped the Top 40 it is still the second highest charting debut album of any winner to date.
Leanne Mitchell in Series 1 managed 134, Andrea Begley made the Top 10 after her appearance in Series 2 while Series 3 champ Jermain Jackman made it to Number 42.
Series 5 of The Voice UK continues Saturday nights on BBC One.
