The Voice UK finalist Sasha Simone has opened up about her battle with depression.
Thh emotional singer has revealed just why she has ended up in tears on stage almost every show so far.
In a new interview, the Team Tom singer discussed how she struggled with years suffering depression and was left with no friends after never leaving her house.
“I used to sit in my flat drinking too much. I was so miserable and couldn’t see anything positive in life," she candidly explained. “There were days when I didn’t even get out of bed. I was crying and drinking on my own. I just couldn’t face my life.”
Sasha told the Daily Star on Sunday newspaper how her past often haunts her when performing.
She said: "I relive bad experiences when I sing and I know it’s not healthy.
“I just want to cry, drop the mic, have a breakdown and grab the nearest person and let them hold me.”
But for 25-year-old Sasha, who last night sailed through to the final of The Voice UK next weekend, the show has done wonders for her confidence.
“I look back at my old self and can’t believe how far I’ve come," she told the tabloid this weekend. The show has really pulled me out of the darkness. It’s really helped me.
“I had to face myself and my fears. Doing that means stepping into the darkness and seeing the ugliness in me. That was the only was it could get better."
Sasha will be competing against Team Will's Lucy O'Byrne and Team Ricky's Emmanuel Nwamadi and Stevie McCrorie to be crowned the Voice 2015 winner next Saturday night.
