The Voice 2014 finalists: Sally Barker doesn't want a record deal

Sally Barker (The Voice 2014)

The Voice UK favourite Sally Barker has declared she doesn't want to win the show.

The Team Tom singer said today that she didn't want the show's record deal prize with music label Universal.

Sally - who has previously performed alongside the likes of Bob Dylan - reckons she's too old and the record contract should go to one o her younger rivals.

Speaking To The Sun newspaper, Sally explained “I am an old bird. They’ve got energy, I don’t. They are probably more skilled as singers in a technical sense than I am. I have got into sloppy ways.

She went on to confess she never imagine winning the series and only entered to get some exposure for her music.

“I didn’t come into this competition to win, I came in to get bums on seats," Sally told the tabloid this morning. “My kids are big fans of the show. They said to me, ‘Mum, you should go on because you sing just as well as the others, and it doesn’t matter what you look like, it’s about the voice.”

“But it’s nice to be able to represent the older generation and show that somebody who can still sing can do a good job.”

The Voice UK final airs tonight from 7PM on BBC One.
