The Voice 2014 UK: Jamie Johnson hits official Top 40 chart in midweeks

Jamie Johnson (The Voice 2014)

The Voice UK finalist Jamie Johnson is currently in the Top 40 in today's midweeks.

The Team Kylie singer's cover of Bonnie Raitt hit I Can’t Make You Love Me won him a spot in this weekend's finale last Saturday night.

And sales of the track from iTunes downloads have seen it enter the official charts in this afternoon's midweek update, albeit just scraping in at Number 40, Chart Update reports.

With still the best part of a week to go until this week's official charts are confirmed however it looks unlikely that Jamie will be able on until Saturday.

So far this year only Christina Marie has managed to crack the official charts, selling over 4,000 copies of Everlong last week to place inside the Top 75.

Meanwhile in today's midweeks, The Voice UK coach Ricky Wilson finds his band the Kaiser Chiefs on top of the albums chart.

But he's less than 1,000 copies ahead of X Factor winner Sam Bailey, who last week scored this year's fastest selling album after shifting an impressive 72,000 copies in just seven days.

Also doing well from the show are Enrique Iglesias, who has climbed back in the Top 10 with I'm a Freak, and Shakira who is up to the Top 20 with Empire, after the pair performed the tracks on Saturday evening's live show.
