The Voice UK ratings fall to series low for first live show

The Voice 2014 ratings hit a series low last night as the live shows began.

The cringeworthy show had an average of just over 6 million viewers, down over 500,000 viewers on last Saturday's knockout round show.

In all 6.21 million tuned in for the first live performances of the series from 6:45PM. It was up around two million viewers on last year's first live show, but that did air out of schedule on a Friday so drawing direct comparisons are difficult.

Despite just a ten minute break, last night's Voice UK results lost 300,000 viewers as an average audience of 5.9 million tuned in.

As well as four performers being eliminate, there were guest appearances from Jason Derulo and Counting Stars hitmakers OneRepublic with the first live show peaking at over 7 million viewers.

Meanwhile over on ITV and Ant and Dec won the night with 6.5 million tuning for the latest episode of Saturday Night Takeaway, which continues next weekend.

The eight remaining acts in the Voice competition will be performing in the live semi finals, also next Saturday on BBC One at 7pm on Saturday 29th March
