The Voice 2014 ratings neck and neck with Saturday Night Takeaway

It was pretty much a dead heat between The Voice UK and Ant and Dec in last night's telly ratings.

There was little change from last week as Saturday Night Takeaway faced off against the first knockout rounds of The Voice UK.

The latest instalment of the BBC One singing contest had an average audience of 6.7 million, a figure that was possibly effected by a late start after the Six Nations Rugby overran.

Over on ITV and Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway averaged 7.04 million (including +1) for its lowest show which saw former Voice UK stars Holly Willoughby ans Danny O'Donoghue both make appearances.

Both programmes performed pretty much identical to last week with the two episodes almost exactly neck and neck once ITV+1 viewers are excluded.

The Voice UK peaked with 7.7 million viewers while Ant and Dec reached a peak audience of 7.8 million, again including +1.

Competition from ITV aside, there's good news for the BBC as this year's series of The Voice is significantly up on last year.

Yesterday's show had a million viewers more than at the equivalent stage in 2013, which was facing Britain's Got Talent on the other side.

The Voice UK continues tonight on BBC One, it's first (and only) Sunday show of the series before the live finals begin next Saturday.
