The Voice 2014: Rachael O'Connor ignoring 'favourite' tag

Rachael O'Connor (The Voice 2014)

Rachael O’Connor has said she's ignoring her tag as the favourite to win.

As the battle rounds begun it was Team Will.i.am’s Sophie May Williams and Team Kylie’s Rachael who found themselves as the joint 6/1 favourites to be crowned as the 2014 champion.

Jade Mayjean Peters is next in the betting at 7/1 or it’s an 8/1 shot that Iesher Haughton takes the title away from Leah McFall.

At 10/1 apiece Jermain Jackman and Femi Santiago are currently the highest ranked males in the market.

But despite being named as a tip to win, Rachael insisted: "I’m just getting on with it, doing my best.

“But it’s nice to know I have so many people backing me.”

At the weekend we saw the teenager beat pal Amelia O'Connell to make it to the knockout rounds this week but it was a bittersweet victory for the Belfast singer.

“I think Kylie had a tough decision to make because me and Amelia are quite similar artists so I didn’t know which way it would go," Rachael recalled.

She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I was thrilled when she called out my name, but gutted for Amelia, as there were no steals left and she had to go home.”
