The Voice 2014 judges: Ricky Wilson wants to be back next year

Ricky Wilson (The Voice 2014)

Ricky Wilson reckons he's done enough to earn himself a second series on The Voice UK.

The Kaiser Chiefs frontman said today that BBC bosses would be "idiots" if they weren't to try and keep the panel the same for next year's series.

Asked if he hoped to be offered the chance to return, Ricky told The Sun: “They’d be f****** idiots if they didn’t. All the coaches have made it really good this year.”

This year's new look panel - with Ricky joining alongside - Kylie Minogue - has boosted ratings to over 10 million.

Although the new coaches have faced criticism from Jessie J who branded their comments 'too nice'.

Ricky previously rather bluntly admitted that he only agreed to join the show’s panel in order to get more publicity for himself and the band.

He told the Absolute Radio breakfast show last month: “It’s on TV, in the corner of everyone’s room, and at the risk of sounding vulgar, I kind of want as many people to hear this record as possible because I’m really proud of it.

“I can say to you that I did it because I wanted to give back to the talent of the future, but I’ve also got a record coming out!”

The Voice UK continues this weekend on BBC One.
