Tinie Tempah has admitted that he hasn't seen The Voice and didn't know Sir Tom Jones ahead of helping out the Welsh singer on this weekend's show.
It's fair to say that everyone was rather surprised to hear that Sir Tom had apparently chosen the rapper to mentor his acts for the battle rounds.
And it turns it out we were all quite to be perplexed as the pair have only ever met once briefly while Tinie doesn't even watch the show.
“My manager called me and said, ‘They want you to do it. Are you up for it?’ and I said yes," Tinie revealed. “He was on before me at V Festival one time and I met him before that and introduced myself to him, but not really so it was a lovely experience to hang with him.”
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, the singer clearly hasn't seen or even read about the series this year saying: “Danny’s not doing it any more? It’s the Kaiser Chiefs? And Kylie now?
“So it’s whatshisname, Tom from the Kaiser Chiefs? The other Tom, Tom Jones, and who is the other one? Will.i.am? Oh, sorry Ricky? My bad.”
Tinie went on to say that he'd never consider applying for the show like The Voice or X Factor suggesting they rushed performers into the industry.
"Over and over again, I would always do it the way I did it. I understand knockbacks and rejection — it’s part and parcel," he explained. “Before anything happened, we were working for five to six years non-stop and spending our own money.
“I think televised talent shows are an amazing platform for exposure.
“But people need to spend more time nurturing, talent-wise and mentally, and to let them know that the real hard work begins after the show."
Elsewhere in the battle rounds and Kylie Minogue will be getting help from Scissor Sisters star Jake Shears, Ricky Wilson's acts will get advice from Katy B while Will.i.am is joined by both Dante Santiago and last year's runner up and Team Will member Leah McFall.
It all starts this Saturday night from 7PM on BBC One.
