The Voice 2014: Amelia O'Connell on her 'awful' blind audition

Amelia O'Connell (The Voice 2014)

The Voice UK 2014 hopeful Amelia O'Connell has confessed she was shocked to have any coaches turn around at her blind audition.

The 16-year-old impressed three of the four judges on Saturday night's latest show with Ricky Wilson, Sir Tom Jones and Kylie Minogue all turning around after the teen's performance of First Time I Ever Saw Your Face.

But Amelia confessed this week: "Personally, I thought my performance was awful!"

She explained: "I didn't think anyone was going to turn their chairs around. I didn't think I could go on at one point, because I was so nervous."

Fortunately Amelia was in the envious position of having to chose between three coaches, in the end opting to join Team Kylie, despite her dad's love of Sir Tom extending to working as a tribute act for the Welsh singer.

But Amelia has been more than happy with her decision after becoming the eleventh member of Kylie's line up of singers.

"I thought I'd be really star struck, but she's so normal," Amelia said of working with the Aussie singer. "She's really down to earth and chatty.

"She gave me great advice. She told me age doesn't matter and to be confident."

The Voice 2014 continues this Saturday night on BBC One with the final round of blind auditions.
