The 'Domino' hitmaker announced yesterday she would not be back on the series for a third run, saying: "I’ve absolutely loved my time on The Voice and I hope everyone saw and knows how passionately I felt about the show.
"However, I can’t wait to promote my new record around the world and that has to take priority. I shall be keeping a very close eye on series three, showing my support in every way I can and [I] really hope that in some way I can be part of the show.”
But the news casts doubt on whether or not Sir Tom Jones, Will.i.am and Danny O’Donoghue will also be back.
The four piece had originally agreed to return altogether or not at all.
"As long as the four of us do it, then I’ll sign again. I think it’s important it’s the four of us, there’s a good chemistry," Will.i.am said. “We talked the last time before we agreed to it and we will this time. It would be hard to do it without the others. I can’t think about doing it with someone else. It would be weird"
With Jessie having left, producers now worry they may end up having to find four new coaches by the end of he year.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Bosses are checking the availability of the other three coaches but there is a very real fear they could follow Jessie and quit too as they said they’d only re-sign if all of them did.
“If they go it would be a massive headache for the BBC, which is still trying to find the right formula to make it a bigger success.”
