Phillip Schofield has leapt to the defence of his presenting partner Holly Willoughby after viewers complained about the revealing black dress she wore on The Voice UK 2013 final.
More than 100 people have been in touch with the BBC to complain that the 32-year-old - nicknamed 'Willoughbooby' by her Celebrity Juice co-star Keith Lemon - had bared too much of her cleavage on the pre-watershed show.
But Philip - who still fronts This Morning with Holly, his former Dancing On Ice sidekick - took to his Twitter page yesterday to give the naysayers a piece of his mind.
He wrote: "139 complaints over Holly's gorgeous Voice dress. Let's hope those outraged on behalf of their kids don't take them to the beach this summer.
"God forbid they might see a woman in a bikini before 9pm and be traumatised by the sight of her cleavage!"
In a statement, the BBC responded to the complaints, saying: "We're sorry if some viewers found Holly's dress to be unsuitable.
"Holly enjoys fashion and we felt the dress she wore for the live final of The Voice UK was glamorous and wholly appropriate for the occasion. We don't believe it would have gone against audience expectations for a TV spectacle such as this."
The second series of The Voice concluded last Saturday with Andrea Begley being crowned the surprise winner.
