The Voice 2013: Cleo Higgins overwhelmed to be in the knockouts

Cleo Higgins

The Voice 2013 star Cleo Higgins has admitted she's overwhelmed to be just one step away from the live shows.

The former child star has fought her way into the knockouts from the blind auditions and through the battle rounds.

Now there's just one performance between her and the live shows.

Cleo is understandably keen to make the cut, and hopes by winning she can prove to other past stars that it's worth giving it a second shot.

The 31-year-old said this month: "The voice has given me the opportunity as a solo artist rather than it is being about Cleopatra.

"I think it's harder when you've done it before, because you've got lots more to prove."

There's been some criticism about 'fallen stars' such as Cleo being on the show, but she insists she has every right to be there.

"I spent years knocking on doors and Them not opening. This is me saying, 'This is who I am – notice what I'm doing'," Cleo explained. "I didn't go in to win, but if I do, it will be a testament to people who have been there before, and haven't had those door open, that it can still happen."

The Voice UK continues on May 25 on BBC One.
