The Voice 2013 artist Moni Tivony has said he hopes the show will allow him to stand up to the bullies.
The singer wowed the judges last night with his take on Bob Marley's No Woman, No Cry, getting all four coaches to turn around.
It was far from Moni's first time on telly, having previously auditioned for The X Factor and also appeared as a Lionel Richie impersonator on BBC series One Night Only.
But with The Voice, Moni says he hopes to show viewers his true self.
"I was in a trio and we got as far as bootcamp in X Factor. I was in Louis Walsh’s category," he said. "The Voice isn’t about what anyone looks like and I think I can do well.
“When I started singing to audiences, the most common thing people would say is, ‘When I close my eyes you sound like a black man singing.’ Reggae has always been an influence for me."
And Moni also hopes to use the show to prove his doubters wrong.
“In school I used to get bullied for being ginger and for being Jewish," he said this weekend. “This is my time to stand up and say to the bullies, ‘I am going show you that you will never win.’”
Moni will next be seen competing in the battle rounds next weekend on BBC One.
