Child star Cleo Higgins makes a surprise come back on The Voice UK 2013 this weekend, having risen to fame in the 90s as part of young girl group Cleopatra.
The group, most famous for their hit single Cleopatra Comin’ At Ya, had success in the early 90s but it was short lived career, with Cleo having gone on to work on a debut solo album. More recently, she's a ‘jack of all trades’ including being a pastry chef, vocal coach and having her own beauty range. Now she's going it alone and ready to step back into the spotlight.
Speaking before going out on stage, Cleo admitted: “A lot of the times I’m hoping to not be recognised.”
The 25-year-old performs Love On Top by Beyoncé for the panel wowing all four of the coaches, with Jessie J taking less than three seconds to slam the red button.
We already know Cleo makes it through to the next stage of the competition – the Battle Rounds – but when one Coach is prepared to take a chance after hearing just a few notes, who knows how the others will react, and which of them will be making a killer pitch to bag 30 year old Cleo for their team?
Cleo said: “I have been away from the music industry far too long and it’s now time for me to be seen and heard”.
The Voice 2013 airs Saturday night from 6:45PM on BBC One.
