Simon Cowell tells us all not to watch The Voice tonight (obviously)

X Factor boss Simon Cowell has told viewers not to tune into The Voice UK tonight, to the surprise of no one.

Instead, the music mogul wants viewers to stick to ITV and watch his part in Ant and Dec's latest gag at the expense of former Britain's Got Talent judge Piers Morgan.

Simon said: "Watch the show on Saturday! I will be watching Take-away. Apparently there is someone on it who is quite famous.”

Tonight sees the return of The Voice on BBC One and it's going head to head with Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, which has seen some impressive ratings over the past few weeks.

Speaking ahead of this evening's debut, Voice host Holly Willoughby played down any rivalry between the two shows, saying: “I love making telly and when you have two shows like that up against each other I just think: ‘What a brilliant weekend of TV.’”

But Ant and Dec were slightly more boisterous.

"I think it's an easy choice. With Takeaway you know you're going to have a good laugh," Ant said this week. "But The Voice for me lacks that sense of humour. I think it always has done."

However Dec added: "I think it's a shame that the audience have been made to choose between the two. With both at 7pm you're forced to watch one and record the other.

"It's a shame you can't watch one and then the other when they go out. Then you'd have two great shows on a Saturday night."

Which show will you be tuning in to tonight?
