Ant and Dec dominate Saturday night telly... should The Voice UK be worried?

Ant and Dec's Saturday night Takeaway

Ant and Dec are continuing to dominate Saturday nights in the telly ratings, so should The Voice UK be worried?

The new series of Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway is proving more popular than ever on ITV, reaching a series high last night.

An average audience of 7.3 million viewers watched the show, climbing to 7.7 million with those who caught up on ITV+1 included.

The show peaked with just under 9 million viewers, figures that would give last year's X Factor live shows a run for their money.

Next Saturday night will see Ant and Dec go head to head with The Voice UK 2013, which is back for its second series.

Jessie J, Danny O'Donoghue, Will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones are all returning as coaches to the show for what will be a make or break series.

Last year more than 8 million watched the opening episode, but the show lost almost half its viewers by the end of the run.

With stiff competition from Ant and Dec this year it looks like we could have another ratings battle on our hands.

And it's set to get worse for The Voice, with Britain's Got Talent returning next month to Saturday nights too.

No doubt BBC bosses will be hoping this year's format changes will keep viewers hooked throughout, but it could also be the beginning of the end for the new show.

Which show will you be watching live next Saturday night?
