BBC boss Mark Linsey reckons The Voice 2013 is the U.K.'s most authentic talent show

In a rather biased opinion, obviously, the Beeb controller gushed about the new series which launches on Saturday night.

The entertainment commissioner for BBC1 claimed the show is well ahead of its rivals, such as Britain's got talent and the X factor, which both air on ITV

Speaking at the launch of The Voice Series 2, Linsey said: "I'm really excited to be launching the second series of the voice.

"Series 1 was a huge success for us, it was the biggest entertainment launch for a new series on BBC One for ten years."

He revealed that last year's series has seen four record label deals, with Vince Kidd, Bo Bruce, Tyler James and winner Leanne Mitchell all getting signed.

"I can tell you that the applications for the second series were significantly higher," Linsey continued. "There is some extraordinarily good talent in this second season.

"That's why the coaches are back, it's amazing and it's great show hat gives an amazing singers the opportunity to show their talent."

He added: "It's that heart and belief that makes the show authentic, together with our live band it makes it the most authentic singing show on British TV."
