The Voice 2013: Jessie J admits it's about more than just the vocals

The Voice UK 2013 - Jessie J

The Voice UK coaches Jessie J and Sir Tom Jones have admitted that the show is definitely more than just about the vocals this time around.

This year's second series will see the coaches each pick a team of twelve singers before whittling thee down to just three for the live finals in the summer.

And despite the title of the show, Jessie revealed she would be taking more than just vocals into account when deciding which artists to take through to the next rounds.

"The first round is totally about 'the voice'. But then naturally you have to take into consideration their age and dealing with the press," she said. "People are already talking about it and it's not on TV yet. If you've not experienced it, it's scary.

"Everyone who goes through can sing. But you also have to take into consideration how people handle themselves, how much they work and how they look after their instrument. It's a big jump."

Sir Tom Jones agreed, adding: "It's also about how they handle themselves on stage under the pressure. You see that in the Battles.

"You hear their voices backstage, but it can come down to how they handle themselves on that stage, under pressure and in front of all those people. You have to wait for the last minute to make your judgement."
