Former X Factor producer Siobhan Greene has taken a swipe at The Voice UK for not finding a star.
Siobhan, known as Shu, worked as an executive producer on the show alongside Simon Cowell for the past three years.
Speaking at the Edinburgh TV festival last week, Shu said: "I thought the opening part of The Voice was brilliant. But they need to find a star. It validates the process. I'm talking about talent/punters."
Shu claimed that the success of some stars from The X Factor "validated" the show.
"When you have a group like One Direction, who go on to become the biggest boyband in the world, it validates the show," she added.
Shu also revealed how she spent three days a week with Simon Cowell editing Britain's Got Talent earlier this week when it was going head to head with [cat]The Voice UK[/cat].
But she insisted: "For me, competition is brilliant. That really focused our mind. We produced a series that was even better than it was going to be because of The Voice.
"Was Simon nervous? No. For all of us, it focused the mind. Competition is healthy and strong."
