The new talent show format saw singers performing on a moving walkway, which changed speed and direction depending on how viewers voted for the contestants.
In the first real time voting show to air in the UK, viewers could rate performances either 'Hit' or 'Miss' via a phone app as the hopefuls sung live on the show.
The most successful act walked away with a cash prize of up to £15,000, with the exact amount won based on how long they spent in the 'Gold Zone'
But technical issues plagued the opening show and it perhaps hurt the ratings with just 1.2 million viewers tuning in.
It put Channel 4 fifth in its slot at 9PM, behind all of BBC One, BBC Two, ITV and Channel 5.
As well as the glitches, others took aim at the 'ridiculous' format which saw host Alan Clarr joined by comic Rob Beckett for reasons we're not sure will ever become clear.
However we still found it quite fun - if trashy - Friday night telly.
Over on Channel 5 and the latest eviction in Big Brother had 1.3 million viewers watching as Zoe Birkett became the next housemate to leave.
