The Only Way Is Essex's Mark Wright faces time behind bars after going on trial for assault after a night club brawl in January of this year. In the fight, caught on CCTV, Mark and pal Jack Tweed are seen in an altercation with Tom Grantham, who had allegedly threatened to burn down Mark's bar.
In court yesterday, Mark explained: “I must have seen red. Lewis Tweed came into the bar. He said: ‘Mark, there’s a guy with me, don’t let him in. He said he’s going to beat up my brother.’
“I told him he can’t come in tonight. He was persistent, saying: ‘I am, I am.’ He was quite drunk.
“Tom was saying stuff to me that was kind of threatening. He just wouldn’t take no for an answer.”
The victim claims the fight, which occurred on January 3, left him unconscious.
The court was shown Mark seen on CCTV appearing to swing four punches, following Jack Tweed's first hit, the Daily Star reports today.
Jack and Lewis Tweed have already pleaded guilty to common assault, and will be sentenced on August 16
Mark denies using threatening behaviour, the trial continues.
